The Patmos Enigma by Ken Fry (My Goodreads Review)

The Patmos Enigma

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A splendid biblical thriller entwined with religious myth and celestial occurrences etc. An archaeological team in Israel discover an ancient ossuary. It contains six of the famous Seven Seals. The main characters of the archaeological team are Simon Rockwell, Rachel Carver, Joshua Agar and Julian Gallo.

The discovery has diabolical consequences as ancient and hidden Christian orders are awakened. The Keepers or AWC will go to any lengths to acquire the religious seals. They will do vile murders to gain the coveted prize. When the reader is introduced to the Grand Keeper and what he stands for, there is a complete wow moment!

In competition against the Keepers are the Guardians. Father Luke is the champion of this secret movement. He is aided by a splendid computer programme called Earthworm. It gives the Guardians their edge.

The missing seventh seal is all to play for. All seem to know the caves where a rough estimation of the seventh seal is to be discovered. The archaeological team are being watched by both sides as the religious quest is allowed to continue. But which side will snatch the final seal to complete the Seven Seals?

1. The dark Keepers who will destroy the Holy Roman church to start a new super divine world order?

2. Or will the Guardians’ order win and protect the Status Quo?

It is all up for grabs with hidden groups in the corridors of power, deep inside the Vatican. So secret that even the Pope is unaware of the existence of these strange Christian orders.

I like the way the reader is drip-fed the archaeological find at the beginning with the various consequences and cameo flashbacks to characters of ancient times. Then the Pandora’s Box of paranormal and underground forces suddenly begin to bloom as the story progresses. Everything comes to a very dramatic climax. A very enjoyable read.

The Lazarus Succession by Ken Fry (My Goodreads Review)

The Lazarus Succession

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Biblical and historical events and a long departed artist’s painting bring about a divine and then lost masterpiece. The search of which leads to a gripping celestial thriller in the present day. The lost picture is believed to have divine powers going back beyond the sixteenth century and to the time of Christ when the Lazarus miracle took place. There are flashbacks in time. We see how the much coveted and lost painting becomes a truly visionary work of art and why through the ages there are various depictions of the same biblical subject.

In this day, we follow a Spanish aristocratic lady who enlists the help of a ruthless and disgraced former British judge. Also, a dynamic duo of freelance treasure hunters who seek out lost masterpieces around the world. No one except the Spanish Condesa believes in the celestial power of the lost painting, but all are certain it has been hidden somewhere in secret by guardians of a lost and past order. As the thrilling search begins, the realisation of the lost picture’s divine power begins to unfold. The ruthless ex-judge will stop at nothing to gain wealth from such a find and soon we are treated to a fast-paced page-turner of cat and mouse intrigue. A very exciting story indeed, which kept me on my toes right up until the end with twists and turns all of the ways.

Barbara Dickson - Another Suitcase In Another Hall

I had completely forgot about this track by Barbara Dickson, but was pleasantly surprised at how much of a retro flick back I got when hearing it. I had just left school and the big world was waiting for me. If I new then what I knew now. Lovely song and a lovely retro memory.

Could There Be Life On Mars?(What mystery does the red planet hide from us)

What mystery does the red planet still hide from us?

Could there be life on mars? Do we secretly hope so? If there really is such a thing, I would imagine it to be primitive bacteria or moss type life. All the while our scientist endevour to look closer at the surface of the Red planet with growing expetation that they will find something within the permafrost.

Nations are coming together with shared fields of expertise and as one they push the frontiers of exploration. Mars seems to be the first point of call. There is a belief that many of her hidden secrets are accessable. The red planet is now a real goal for exploration and a strong hope of discovering alien life.

Are we the only ones in this Universe? I don't thinks so, do you? There must be intelligent lifeforms somewhere in space. Even basic alien bacteria or plant life. Some evidence supports the notion of life-forms living on the planet right next door to us - Mars.
Space probes are searching Mars in the belief that ingredients for life, including water, are there. The Mars Odyssey probe, launched in April 2001, detected huge frozen areas of permafrost, simular to that found in the Antarctic on Earth. This surface ice may hide something below and scientists hope to learn more about Mars' mysterious water cycle.

Learn more of the Mars Odyssey probe on the NASA website.

The Curiosity Rover is a huge project of NASA. They have organised, developed and built an exploration vehicle to land on Mars and explore the South Pole area of the planet. This is to determine if there was once life on the Red Planet. It will take a great deal of time, but much has been put into this project.

A multitude of Scientists are working from Earth and feeding programmes into the Curiosity Rover so that it can conduct all manner of experiments. This is one of the most exciting leaps forward since the first Apollo Moon landing.

Other probes and land vehicles have landed upon the Martian surface before, but these have met with very limited success and none where the search for alien life is concerned. Now this new robotic laboratory can roam the Martian surface controlled by NASA personnel on Earth after a most successful landing on the Red Planet's surface.

Theories

Scientists and Theorists will not give up on the Martian question of life. Many cling to the notion that Mars might be a dead planet that once sustained life. Gradually ideas are eliminated only to be replaced by new ones. The hope of 'once there was life.' remains and so many explorations and experiments remain. Unmanned space craft are sent to scratch the surface and find evidence of 'once there was life.'

Questions

Some of the rock formations puzzle geologists and pose questions that once water might have been there. Why did it all end if the planet was once on the journey to evolve carbon based lifeforms. Perhaps a violent ecological disaster might be the reason for the sterile landscape that teases of 'once there was life.'
