The Imperial Rise and Fall of Japan and their Emperor is a historical event that is mind boggling. What made them (Japan) take the direction they did?

Let's be honest, the leading colonial powers of the time were Britain, France, Russia, Germany, Holland, Portugal, and Spain. All old imperial powers that occupied conquered territories in Asia. They were all about Japan.

Perhaps Japan realised she had to swim with the big imperial powers of the time - a time that was coming to an end, yet none realised this was to be. All these nations believed the way forward was to occupy other less powerful nations and exploit their natural resources.

Mansa Musa I was the king of kings and lived from 1280 to 1337. He was a glorious Emperor of the Malian Empire and brought a golden age to his realm which covers today's African areas of Ghana, Timbuktu and Mali. 

Mansa Musa I and his court worked a capitalist economy unparalleled a ratio scale by even today's standards. He would have been richer than Bill Gates. The Malian Empire used sound logistics and trade with salt and gold. 

Over 400 cities were within Mansa Musa's realm and he went upon a great pilgrimage to Mecca in 1324 with a grand entourage of 60,000 people. He returned in 1325 with many architects and scholars who he put to the task of building monumental mosques and other grand enterprises.

His staggering wealth makes him the richest man in recorded history. As economists try to assert this in today's terms, Mansa Musa I (King of kings) Emperor of the Malian Empire would be worth in excess of $400 billion. 

He is regarded as a man of great vision and a firm believer in the Islamic world. His generosity is also renowned. some of the fabulous African mosques built by Mansa Musa I still stand today. 

He was the richest man that ever lived in real terms. None, as of yet, have surpassed this man's wealth.
