Granddaughters Millie and Rosie with Carole at the Crooked Cottage in Manea.

I forgot I had this photo on my phone. It was taken back in August on a rather hot day. Carole and I took Granddaughters, Millie and Rosie to the bird hides. We passed the rickety old cottage along the way and I thought it a good excuse to take a photoshoot on the mobile.

Fenland Summer Evening.

Fenland walk by the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk/Lincolnshire borders. The summer evening was grand and Carole's son, Lee, came down with his wife Carley. They took some of these photos as we went out into the fen.

Every where is very flat and we can see for miles. More Owls but they were too quick for us.

I had to content myself with other photo shots instead.

Yellow Wagtail in the Fens

The Yellow Wagtail is a summer visitor from Africa, where it spends the winter months. It is in a serious decline of breeding numbers and is on the red list of the conservation concern. There do seem to be a lot of them around the Fens, however. Hopefully, their numbers are replenishing.

Fenlands and a dog walk

A dog walk with my camera in the Fenlands. All sorts of things going on and probably lots more pictures missed because I was too slow. Still no birds of prey. I think they remain camera shy.

Fenland's Wisbech Should have Rail line Re-instated.

There is still a Railway station in the market town of March, Cambridgeshire but some of the other Fenland market towns are cut off from Rail today. One of the most notable places is Wisbech. A big town like Wisbech in Fenland Cambridgeshire should be reconnected to the main rail lines.

This is a clip from 1963 in March. The station still remains, though I don't think it is as busy as it once was. The Wisbech connection should be reconsidered and there is a local campaign to reinstate a rail line at Wisbech. I hope it comes true because I think it would be good for the Fenland.

Wisbech did once have a rail station that was built in 1848. However, it was shut down in 1968. Today many feel that this was a mistake and Wisbech should be re-instated.
