Flowered Up - A London Band from the 1990's Decade.

They were the nearly lads who acquired a grand reputation for their live gigs. Some of their songs were marvellous and they certainly went against the grain.

For me, their songs and lyrics remind me of things I miss about London and also what I have been trying all my life to escape from, concerning London. I know that sounds like a contradiction and it is. But I'm one of those Londoners who moved away from the city and out into the rural Fenland. I never want to go back and if I never see the place again, it will be too soon.

However, the band called Flowered Up remind me of everything concerning the humdrum London in a kindly and more nostalgic way. There is something morose and compelling about them. I think they were a great band that never realised their full potential.

Of course the two brothers Liam and Joe Maher are dead. Liam was the singer and Joe played the guitar. The song Weekender was done with a splendid video and you can check it out on YouTube. Please do.

Moody Blues - Ride My See Saw 1970

I was nine years old when this song came out in 1970. It captures many memories of the UK in that time. Everything seemed modern and optimistic. Sometimes, I can see that something inside of us has gone. These were such wonderful times, but I sometimes think the nostalgia of my young years only echoes with the kind memories.

Queen - The Prophets Song from Night at the Opera

This song was on the album; Night at the Opera. One of my favourite Queen albums, but then... they were all rather good. :D I think this came out around 1975. It was the album that converted me to Queen.

Jumpin' Jack Flash - The Rolling Stones with Brian Jones

This is how I remembered them as a kid with all my elders bemoaning them. As though they were the anti-Christ in mortal form. I could not understand why I liked them and found them compelling when my betters said such scathing things about these long haired layabouts. Why were they on television? Was it so we could say bad things about the way they were?
The world has changed so much since this time and now The Rolling Stones and many other 'long haired layabout' bands of the 60s are institutionalised and iconic of these times. They left a footprint that will be remembered for thousands of years. Imagine being able to see Shakespeare, Cicero, Da Vinci or Plato on TV. The people of the future will be able to see these artists long after they are gone and in their glory days.

Argent - Hold your head up

This track by Argent takes me back to my child hood. I thought this song was great. I remember watching it on Top of the Pops in about 1970 or 1971. I thought it was great.
