Dalek Empire I - audio story (My Goodreads Review)

Dalek Empire I: Chapter One - Invasion of the Daleks (Doctor Who)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had just finished a book and then noticed I had downloaded this audio from Big Finish on my mobile app. I thought I would give it a go as it was only 71 mins in length. I was very surprised at how well the production was done. The sci-fi drama was very atmospheric with the old Doctor Who bad guys, the Daleks. In this particular story, there is no Doctor Who. Instead, we are taken to a planet called Vegas. There is a human colony there and it is about to be invaded. The dialogue was splendid and I would say this story is rather adult. Although it was only 71 mins long, it is part one of a four-part story. If the other episodes are as good as this, I will be pleased. I shall listen to the others in due course. If you are retro Doctor Who fans looking for something a little more adult and with a bit of a bite; then I would recommend giving this a go.

(Radiogram Adventures) Booker T & the MG's - green onions

I think this record was in my Dad's collection. My sister and I both liked this one. At first I used to be disappointed because there was no signing, but then I grew to like it very much indeed.

JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE - HEY JOE

I can remember watching this band on the television as a kid. I think it might have been a 60s Top of the Pops or something. I always thought they were strange because there was only three people in the band. Usually there was four or more in most rock bands. Or so I thought, back then.

I knew Jimi Hendrix died in 1970 at the age of just 27, but I was surprised to learn that the entire trio are now brown bread (DEAD.) The Bass player, Noel Redding, died in Ireland in 2003 age 57 and the Drummer, Mitch Mitchell died in 2008 On tour in Oregon USA.

JIMI HENDRIX - rare version 03/07/1967 belgium -HEY JOE

Jimi Hendrix Experience band from 1967 with Hey Joe. It is hard to believe that all three of the band members are dead now. Jimi Hendrix passed away in 1970 at age 27 while bass player Noel Reading died in 2003 in Ireland. The drummer; Mitch Mitchell died in USA in 2008.

It seems like yesterday when I watched them on Top of the Pops as a seven year old kid. I was living in Stoke Newington at the time. We lived there from 1967 to 1969. We moved back to Poplar in East London in 1969 and remember being surprised to learn of Jimi Hendrix dying. That was in 1970, but I don't think I learned until the following year. That's because I was saying, "When did that happen?" and replies were, "last year."

I got more into his style of music many years after his death, but I do remember watching him on Top of the Pops in the late sixties while living in Stoke Newington.
