The build up to D-Day as the Allies prepare to invade Normandy and move closer to the downfall of Nazi Germany. This footage is all in colour and Operation Overlord is commencing. There were five beaches to make landings at : Gold, Juno, Sword, Omaha and Utah. Also twenty three thousand airborne troops had to secure inland areas and create diversions. They blew up supply routes and destroyed bridges hampering Nazi attempts to quickly reinforce their troops at the beach defense.
