Chancellor Merkel has joined this fray in support of British and Swedish Prime Ministers. Personally it is still kicking the can down the road for EU referendum in UK. If the German Chancellor stays out of the contest over Mr Juncker's probable appointment in the EU, Mister Cameron will bring the referendum forward.

I don't know what the outcome would be, but at least all will know where we in the UK must stand. For better or worse, don't try to buy time on the referendum.
