Yuri Gagarin was the first human being to go into outer space in April of 1961. He was a Soviet pilot and Cosmonaut. His nation, the Soviet Union, bestowed many honours upon him for this heroic feat, including the highest award; Hero of the Soviet Union.
He was born in the year 1934 and died in 1968 when his MIG 15 training jet crashed. He was just thirty four years of age, but his name will echo throughout time.
